Hi all I posted my results earlier this week, and this was my endos response. I have attached both my bloods and his reply. Would appreciate your thoughts. Thanks so much

You B12 is so low it’s all but deficient

Endocrinologist obviously needs to go to Specsavers

I should email him back and point out B12 is only just above bottom of range and only 3% through range and that GP is now testing for Pernicious Anaemia before starting B12 injections

I know this response has kind of made me feel like I need to change my because what’s the point in having tests if he does zero. He has requested for tests of these: Cortisol (post Dexamethasone)U&Es, Mg, calcium , phosphate,vitamin D, PTH, TSH, Free t4, free t3 and HbA1c.

What does he mean the TSH seems high compared to a normal T4 ? Thank you so much

Your tsh is high. On an adequate dose of levo you would expect your tsh to be in range and under 2, ideally nearer to 1. Your ft4 result is well in range and if you only looked at that result you would think all should be fine.

Simply put your tsh suggests you are still very hypo but your ft4 result suggests that you are not. They are mismatched.

I will tick the iron and ferritin boxes on the blood form as well because the secretary is emailing it over to me .

can u get a false TSH and T4 reading? If so how what would cause this? Thank you 🙏

Biotin. Avoid anything containing biotin at least 72 hours before testing (including multi vitamins, hair/nail supplement, energy drinks, etc.). If taking high dose biotin then stop for a week prior to testing. And, as SlowDragon mentioned, mouse antibodies (group known as Heterophile Antibodies (HAbs)– Human Antimouse Antibodies (HAMAs) and Rheumatoid Factor (RF).

At least endo is interested in Free T3 - that's a positive note.

When someone is diagnosed with Pernicious Anaemia, we're offered an injection every three months.

My mother had P.A. and had injections for a number of years after being diagnosed until one GP told her that her bloods were fine and needed no more B12 injections.

Both my sister and myself thought that was 'good'.

I had no connection to the internet at that time and I would not have thought that doctors could make mistakes about common autoimmune conditions but my mother's doctor's decision caused her death as she developed stomach cancer.

I also have Pernicious Anaemia and my doctor told me I can have as many B12 injections as I felt I needed. I now get a monthly injection.

omg wow, I am so so so sorry to hear this. Yes the internet is a an amazing tool and I want to educated myself. I got my results today the test and it’s so odd as there are no lab results is this normal?

I don't think it is 'normal' as that's the reason we have blood drawn to enable us to know whether or not we need certain increases if results are below ranges.

Thyroid36 .....there is a test result ... intrinsic factor ~'normal'. (ie within range, think that means negative for pernicious anaemia ,assuming that's what they were testing it for ? )....... but the actual result and ranges haven't been provided here . They don't always give that information on printouts for all test results . If you wanted to find out the specific result and lab ranges used for this antibody tests , you'd have to chase it up it further , initially with the GP reception, or if they didn't have the ranges , the lab .

But not sure there's much point in this instance ...

for some kinds of test , knowing the actual result/ ranges doesn't matter to us as much as it does for say Vitamins or fT4 /fT3 level, where we are particularly interested on exactly where within the range a result lies .
