I posted over the weekend regarding a sudden drop in T3/T4 following first 2 weeks of a compounded liquid Levo. Thank you for replies!
Further to conversations with the pharmacist who supplied the compounded, they have confirmed my script/ dosing was accurate and are as concerned as I am about my significantly lowered levels.
They have suggested that I trial a branded/ off the shelf product as there’s a possibility I have an issue with the excipients they use. The one they can order for me at present is made by Alliance. There is another but the price is astronomical and as I am self funding the liquid trial, it would not be manageable for me.
Alliance is not on the Thyroid Uk list, so I wanted to see if any members have/ are using this and whether there have been any issues with availability.
I will check the drop box via helvella to see if I can check excipients, but if anyone has any thoughts/ feedback, I’d be very grateful.
My other thought was to ask for a named brand script (one listed on TUK) from my private Endo to see if a local pharmacy can order in. This is Plan B 😁
Alliance is a distributor - part of Walgreen Boots Alliance.
In the British National Formulary, they list products by suppliers. "Suppliers" can be distributors or manufacturers/importers and you really can't tell which is which.
Which ends up utterly confusing anyone and everyone!
Someone will have to look further and identify what product will be supplied if ordered through Alliance. Getting the Product Licence number would be sufficient - as you know, those numbers are included in my document.
I compile my list from MHRA information in order to avoid these confusions. That is, I pick up every product which is licensed. But I have not found any way of getting information about distributors beyond that they exist!
One thought was that they might act as an "own label supplier" under the Almus branding. So I checked - they don't list any levothyroxine oral solutions:
As always, helvella thank you! I really appreciate the time you put in to my queries. I’ll get in touch with the pharmacist and ask if they can contact for a product licence number. As ever, your documents are such a help to many of us here
