levothyroxine dose

I recently went from 50mcg to 75mcg levothyroxine. I feel more energy but also a heavy feeling on the chest. A bit more difficult to breathe also. Not comfortable at all. Should i try an inbetween dose?

Yes you could try an in-between dose or you could split your 75mcg dose taking it in 2 doses. This lessens the severity of the peak. Some folks find this beneficial. There is also a theory that it can increase conversion for some.

Hey Lalaloot, i tried taking 50mcg in the morning and 25mcg in the afternoon but I felt no effect of the afternoon dose. Maybe i can try 60 or 65 in the morning and slowly increase..

What make of thyroxine do you take. Do you take. 50+25 tablets or do you take 75:tablet. Teva make can sometimes upset people due to fillers.

Hi Elwins. Here in Belgium it is the brand ‘Christiaens’. I took the 50 mcg and then 1 half of the 50 in the afternoon. Didn’t feel anything,i even once tried another half before bed , nothing Now i have the 75mcg which has the same ingredients except the colour is grey instead of orange.

Get iron and ferritin levels tested.

Also request vitamin D, folate and B12 testing
