It amazes me the number of people who are on longterm protein pump inhibitors, such as Omeprazole who are unaware of the effect of the medication on their absorption of nutrients and other medications. Their doctors seem to be unaware as well.
Of course treatment for various autoimmune (and other) diseases requires medication that then requires ppi to protect the stomach, but I do sometimes wonder whether this is creating a catch 22 of other health conditions (and would recommend people to speak to their doctor before discontinuing Omeprazole or alternatives).
