Carbimazole and hrt: I am on Carbimazole 5mg and... - Thyroid UK
Carbimazole and hrt
They shouldn’t interact.
Are your thyroid levels at a good level? if not that will cause symptoms & likely exacerbate any menopausal symptoms.
Add any recent results & ranges.
Yes thyroid normal levels .. just waiting for bloods on hormone levels as this anxiety is driving me mad … had progesterone and testosterone bloods back and they are normal, just waiting on oestrogen blood s
Do you view results yourself? Drs say “normal” If results are anywhere range but have the drs completed a full test? often they just test TSH which isn’t sufficient.
My doc s are useless never give me results on paper so I trust what they say. Far as I’m concerned they only test TSH levels . How do I approach this ?
Never trust what the say…. I could write pages of examples of how things get missed off / miss tested / miss understood / mistaken.
You are legally entitled to your results. Practices must arrange to provide when requested but prefer you don’t request and sometimes try to obstruct.
Firstly ask if your practice offers online access, and request full online access including historical record.
England (only) is contractually mandated to provide online access (other areas vary)
Online access extremely useful as notes & letters also available.
Do not ask doctors for results (they don’t like patients knowing). Ask via practice reception. Before I had online access I would contact them and explain I would like a copy of blood test for xx date or from xx date and say I will collect on eg “wednesday” give them 2 days or so to print.
Don’t accept verbal or hand scribbled notes insist on a printed copy with ranges (ranges vary between labs so essential).
GP practices don’t have automatic access to hospital held records. You can request copies of hospital records, either directly from the department which requested them. Approach the department secretary who should be able to send copies. If there’s any obstruction there are other ways to request copies of hospital records.
If only TSH is tested you may have to arrange private test.
The App is not showing my blood results at all ! Useless! Ok I will ask the receptionist to send me a hard copy of my bloods … so unfair they don’t put these on our app…
When you first request online access they automatically grant a basic access only - EG to book appointment or order prescriptions. Speak to your surgery and ask for full access including historical record. They may ask for ID or have a further official form. It depends on practice policy.
It’s almost like they don’t want you have access.
Which system do the practice recommend using?
Nhs app at the mo
The app has facility to show test results and likely just needs to be set up by practice. Its a case of enabling the right settings on the system their end. They sometimes don’t know how to do this and need a “tech” person to action it or talk them through it. They have 1 calendar month from your request to arrange full access.
