What supplements are you currently taking

Important to test vitamin D twice year when supplementing

Testing folate, ferritin and B12 at least once a year

Cheapest for testing thyroid and vitamins is usually Medichecks

Always test thyroid levels privately early Monday or Tuesday morning, ideally before 9am and last dose levothyroxine 24 hours before test

Stop taking any supplements that contain biotin a week before blood test as biotin can falsely affect test results

If testing iron levels, stop iron supplements a week before and do test fasting

Thank you, I am taking B Complex. Calcium &D3, Omega 3 Fish oil, Sea Kelp, Cod liver oil, Glucosamine Sulphate, Turmeric, Magnesium, Vitamin D I am also on Statins, and Fluoxetine 20mg every other day.

I have had my thyroid tested but they only ever do the basic test , not the full range, I have been diagnosed with CFS but a lot of my symptoms are very similar to Thyroid problems My mother had thyroid trouble

Sea kelp never recommended for anyone with possible thyroid disease

Suggest you stop taking kelp

Wait 2-6 weeks and get full thyroid including thyroid antibodies and vitamin testing

Medichecks is usually the cheapest

Often on offer on Thursdays

Remember it’s essential to stop taking vitamin B complex a week before test as contains biotin

You must test thyroid antibodies and all four vitamins

Test vitamin D twice year when supplementing

High cholesterol is linked to being hypothyroid

nhs.uk/conditions/statins/c...

If you have an underactive thyroid (hypothyroidism), treatment may be delayed until this problem is treated. This is because having an underactive thyroid can lead to an increased cholesterol level, and treating hypothyroidism may cause your cholesterol level to decrease, without the need for statins. Statins are also more likely to cause muscle damage in people with an underactive thyroid.
