we’ve found that when a client has Hashimoto’s and is in a hypothyroid state, by slowly adding a small amount of an iodine supplement to the diet, such as Iodomere from Standard Process or sea vegetables, the client often feels better.I have to admit that I treat folks such as her who offer cures and link to products, as snake oil salesmen . Above is one example from her guidance where she advocates taking iodine without testing for deficiency. It was iodine supplementation that has been highlighted as the likely cause of my thyroid problems.

Also highlights the problem of random iodine supplementation.

Hi

There's a lot of woo out there, particularly anyone who calls themselves a nutritionist or natural therapy practitioner. There's previous little regulation, accreditation or accountability.

Anyone can do an internet course, paid for of course, and set themselves up and start charging. They know there are a lot of desperate, poorly people out there. A captive audience, who after getting no joy from conventional medicine start turning to the alternative community. They promise a lot but often at best deliver nothing and at worst can be dangerous or make you more unwell.

I've had to watch my MIL, a lovely lady but rather gullible, get sucked in to all this stuff. She's been ripped off so often and she's still unwell, just considerably poorer into the bargain.

I'm not saying all alternative practitioners are rubbish or dishonest, but please choose very carefully. Read reviews, check they've got legitimate qualifications and experience.
