Levothyroxine w/losartan

Raised levothyroxine from 100mg to 112mg now blood pressure is elevated even tho I take 25 mg losartan

Welcome to our forum,

There are many causes of hypertension and being under medicated is one. Therefore, until meds are optimised and working effectively it is difficult to blame the BP rise on Levo alone.

Hopefully things will settle back and BP will restabalise. Post any recent labs including the ranges (numbers in brackets) for members to comment.

I couldn’t take levothyroxine for this reason. It shot my Bp up even on 50mg.

I spoke to my cardiologist and he said that hormonal changes (or medication) can be the main cause for blood pressure changes. My BP is usually really low 100/65. I was going to 165/105. Which is high for me

Hi, 25mg is a low dose, I started on 50mg then went to 100mg and then topped it off with 5mg of Amlodipine and now my BP is spot on. I suggest see dr about increasing yours?

hi , i sorry to hear your having problems with medication , i’ve had problems with both BP, AND THYROXINE,

i was on levothyroxine 100 for many years no problems ,,,, at the same time i was on Losartan 100 with no problems , then 2 years ago after annual blood tests GP said i needed 125 thyroxine,,, which i took and felt better ,,for a while but then started having tremblings inside and feeling generally weak and lethargic,,,, so i told GP i was going back to 100 Levothyroxine,,,, and within days i was ok again ,,, then last year i saw my GP for annual checkup and he said there was a problem with my BP and gave me another BP tablet to take along with the Losartan,,,,, all ok ,,, but then i started with the shaking feelings inside feeling weak and generally unwell ,,, so i stopped the added BP tablet and just took my Losartan ,,,, and soon went back to feeling good , so maybe , so maybe you don’t need the 112,,,, , hope you soon get it sorted ,
