is or has anyone feelt more aggresive/short tempered on levothyroxine, ever since i hit the 225mcg and stayed there (been on that for well over 6mths now) I have been way more short tempered to say the least, im very easy at snapping at people for the easiest thing now.

And i snap bad when i do

I only started feeling like this since i hit 255mcg and have had not other meds b4 and just after it started

Welcome to the forum

Do you always get same brand levothyroxine at each prescription

Are you currently taking any vitamin supplements?

What’s the reason for your hypothyroidism

Thyroidectomy?

Graves’ disease

Hashimoto’s?

What were your most recent thyroid results

Bloods should be retested 6-8 weeks after each dose change or brand change in levothyroxine

For full Thyroid evaluation you need TSH, FT4 and FT3 plus both TPO and TG thyroid antibodies tested.

Very important to test vitamin D, folate, ferritin and B12

Low vitamin levels are extremely common, especially with autoimmune thyroid disease (Hashimoto’s or Ord’s thyroiditis) or with Graves’ disease

Low vitamin levels common as we get older too

Recommended on here that all thyroid blood tests should ideally be done as early as possible in morning and before eating or drinking anything other than water and last dose levothyroxine 24 hours before test

This gives highest TSH, lowest FT4 and most consistent results. (Patient to patient tip)

Private tests are available as NHS currently rarely tests Ft3 or all relevant vitamins

Yes, when I have increased my doses, I felt really stressed and angry. Seems to have settled down now with me. I don't know if it was that my body didn't like such high T4 or it didn't like the Levo brand or it was just adjusting to it. Having said that, for the past couple of months I have been optimising my nutrients like folate etc...perhaps this might be the reason I can tolerate the higher doses better now. All the best.

It could be that you aren't converting levothyroxine (T4) into sufficient T3. T4 being an inactive hormone and T3 being the active thyroid hormone that runs everything in our body and brain and heart contain the most T3 receptor cell. We have millions of T3 receptor cells.
