How do I order a DIO2 test

Hi everyone I’ve been asked by my consultant to do a DIO2 test but I can’t seem to find how to do it can anyone help me please tia

But there is a note saying that there is a backlog until at least November.

I find it bizarre your consultant hasn't either arranged a test or pointed you at a test!

Also, there simply is no maximum dose of levothyroxine. I suspect you might be referring to 200 micrograms? If that were a real maximum I think we'd have really to wonder why some countries produce tablets of 200 and 300 micrograms!

Justification for higher doses could include poor absorption or the effects from other medicines.

If you are not absorbing tablets properly, consideration should be given to trialling a levothyroxine oral solution (liquid levothyroxine) as they are often better absorbed.

...but even if the test has to be done privately, I suppose I would have expected the consultant to suggest where to get the test done (although obviously people here can help with this, perhaps that's the thinking). I guess my nagging doubt is, if they aren't providing this information, will they understand enough about the results to interpret them effectively ?

Hi there, sorry haven't got time to read other responses so this may be a duplicate. I had my DNA mapped by using the 23and me service ( saliva sample). The raw data can be searched for the gene, DIO are letters followed by the number 2.

Of course your Doctor will understand what the results mean but there are also other people who you can export your data too and they will run an analysis. I last looked 4 yrs ago and I used StrateGene and genetic genie but things may have changed.
