Reflux meds

I have asthma as well as hashis and the gp has given me Lansoprazole to try to see if it reduces the post nasal drip/mucus. The problem is when to take it. Instructions say 30 to 60 minutes before food, in the morning.

I take thyroid (ndt) as soon as I wake up. Anyone else on reflux medication? Thanks.

Have you tried dairy free diet

Post nasal drip often lactose/dairy intolerance

Dairy free might also improve “asthma “

I find many clients don’t understand that whey protein powder is a dairy food (and almost always contaminated with the protein casein as well). Or many soy-based protein bars include caseinate ingredients (a derivative of the dairy protein). Or perhaps even more confusing, a product labeled “lactose free” does not necessarily mean it is truly “dairy free”.

Are you already gluten free?

Most hypothyroid patients have LOW stomach acid

Lansoprazole (or any ppi) is to treat high stomach acid

Are your thyroid and vitamin levels optimal

Thanks, thyroid and vitamin levels good. I’m gluten free but not dairy, but use goats milk and coconut milk. Interesting about the low stomach acid, thanks for all the links xx

Try cutting absolutely all dairy

Check thyroid meds for lactose too

Hi, I’m struggling with the same thing. It suddenly started again for no reason that I can understand. Ive dropped dairy, even the sheep’s milk yoghurt that seemed fine for ages. Apart from a sore throat I also have a frequent cough and post nasal drip. Never heartburn or stomach pain though. I didn’t realise the cause of the sore throat for years.

I was told that reflux can be caused by Helicobacter pylori. Apparently your GP can test for this. I haven’t tried that yet but may well do so soon.

4 gaviscon tablets last night helped prevent a morning burning throat. I prefer these to Omeprazol etc. I think they’re less damaging.

Raising your bed head can help too, mine’s on piles of magazines. Also sleeping on your left side. Avoid tomatoes, spices & acid fruit & veg.

I’m finding it very tricky.

Innocent hazelnut milk soothes my throat really well, I’m sipping it throughout the day at the moment.

Vinegar really didn’t help me but it might work for you.
