Just a question related to Bisoprolol side effects. I’m on 2.5mg daily for high blood pressure for nearly three weeks now. Noticeable side affects are feeling lightheaded, blurry vision and head ache left side of head, poor concentration, particularly before meals . It’s been getting me down as I can’t get in with life. Today, before lunch I tried a couple of teaspoons of honey and after a few minutes almost all symptoms left. I’m thinking maybe low blood sugar is the cause.
Has anyone else experienced these symptoms and put it down to low blood sugar?
Thanks Liz

I take bisoprolol at bedtime due to levothyroxine creating severe palpitations, especially during the night and I believe the palpitations were created by levothyroxine.
If I switch to another thyroid hormone (except T3) I get palpitations all day but very severe during the night.
With T3 alone I get no palpitations and I also feel well. I have reduced my dose as I go by 'how I feel' on a particular dose but I haven't changed my dose for a number of years now.
What is your Bisoprolol dose? I’ve been advised by my doc to take it en the evening to see if it helps with feeling lightheaded. It has improved in the mornings only. I also take my levothyroxine at bedtime but try to leave a 3 hour gap between the two meds. Sleep isn’t good, I tend to wake several times a night. Then I feel very tired all day.
My dose is 2.5mg. The reason I have to take it is due to being on levothyroxine only which gave me immense palpitations - particularly during the night.
Eventually, after a number of overnight monitors the Cardiologist was puzzled and contemplated putting an implant in my heart 'to see what was going on'. Just then T3 was added to T4 and palpitations ceased but I still have to take bisoprolol at bedtime so they don't recur even though I now take T3 alone.
When I had the severe palpitations I had to wrap around my neck ice-cold towels during the night whilst I sipped iced-water but I don't do that now and sleep without being disturbed with no palpitations or needing ice-bag on neck. I've trialled taking no Bisoprolol but heartbeats take off during night, so I still take it.
