Armour Thyroid : Hi everyone! I’m new to this... - Thyroid UK

It would be illegal for anyone in the UK to supply you with Armour without prescription. It is regarded as a prescription-only medicine and only registered professionals could prescribe it.
There is the possibility of purchasing abroad, e.g. by internet ordering, and getting it delivered to the UK. This is allowed but only for your own use (and that of your household).
If anyone within the UK is offering Armour without prescription, they could be misleading you into think that they are in the UK but actually operate elsewhere. Or are not going to supply bona fide Armour. Or are operating illegally.
I assume that you would wish members to let you know by Private Message where you can order Armour? We usually close such posts to ensure no-one posts possible suppliers as that is against the terms of the site. However, I will leave this open at least for a while, so you can respond if you wish.

Pcos-thyroid, Welcome to the forum.
As explained by helvella , you cannot legally purchase any thyroid medication in the UK without prescription.

Welcome to the forum
Before considering adding T3 or trying NDT we will always need OPTIMAL Vitamin levels and levothyroxine fine tuned
As you have PCOS presumably you have autoimmune thyroid disease also called Hashimoto’s
PCOS and Hashimoto’s often go together
Low vitamin levels are extremely common with Hashimoto’s
Please add most recent thyroid and vitamin results
How much levothyroxine are you currently taking
Do you always get same brand levothyroxine at each prescription
What vitamin supplements are you currently taking
When were vitamin D, folate, ferritin and B12 last tested
Have you had coeliac blood test done yet
Are you on absolutely strictly gluten free diet

Guidelines on likely dose levothyroxine by weight is approx 1.6mcg levothyroxine per kilo of your weight
Many people find different brands of levothyroxine are not interchangeable
Which brand of levothyroxine are you currently taking
For full Thyroid evaluation you need TSH, FT4 and FT3 plus both TPO and TG thyroid antibodies tested.
Also EXTREMELY important to test vitamin D, folate, ferritin and B12
Low vitamin levels are extremely common, especially with autoimmune thyroid disease (Hashimoto’s or Ord’s thyroiditis)
Recommended on here that all thyroid blood tests should ideally be done as early as possible in morning and before eating or drinking anything other than water .
Last dose of Levothyroxine 24 hours prior to blood test. (taking delayed dose immediately after blood draw).
This gives highest TSH, lowest FT4 and most consistent results. (Patient to patient tip)
Is this how you do your tests?
Private tests are available as NHS currently rarely tests Ft3 or all relevant vitamins

If TPO or TG thyroid antibodies are high this is usually due to Hashimoto’s (commonly known in UK as autoimmune thyroid disease).
About 90% of all primary hypothyroidism in Uk is due to Hashimoto’s. Low vitamin levels are particularly common with Hashimoto’s. Gluten intolerance is very often a hidden issue too
