Post thyroidectomy pregnancy levothyroxine management question/concern

Hi,

First time posting so please feel free to direct me to the right place. I'm 7 weeks pregnant through IVF. I'm still classed as being under IVF care until my viability scan next week, in which they will refer me back to the NHS. No one has increased my levothyroxine despite phoning the GP and Endo several times a week. I got my levels checked just before starting IVF end of January and they were exactly were the endo wants them to be. The Endo was quite adament that I contact him immediately when I discovered I was pregnant so I could get an appropriate consultant to manage me.

I'm 41, second pregnancy but I miscarried last summer and my Endo and thyroid surgeon were fuming as my GP had treated me a typical hypothyroid patient when I'm not. They put me up too high to quick and I went full hyper. I'm to be kept slightly borderline hyper not hypo to suppress my TSH as the thyroidectomy was due to cancer.

Basically, I'm 7 weeks and still on 150mg (5foot 4 and 61kg). I've called the endo and GP again today and demanded an appointment. I think I just want to know, am I worrying unecessarily and I just need to wait until IVF refer me to a midwife or am I right for kicking off? I think ultimately I'm just concerned on how long everything takes and want to be chasing as the communication seems so bad.

Many thanks for any advice.

Hi. Thank you. I finally got a call back today after a lot of chasing. I'm getting my bloods checked at 8 weeks (mid next week) and then they will review. They actually said I'm fine to be on the same dose at the mo as they already keep me at a borderline upper level to reduce any cancer cells coming back (to suppress TSH) . I'm relieved someone finally called me back. Taken over 2 weeks for someone just to speak to me. There is so much about increasing your dose straight away on the Internet, I wasn't aware until just now that I may not need it as long as I'm checked regularly.

One less thing to worry about hopefully 👍🏻
