I am new to the group and hoping for some advice/thoughts on my results please.
Last year i told my doctor i was worried about hair loss and low mood. Had bloods done and was told subclinical hyperthyroidism but doc said its menopause causing my symptoms.
Told to call back if ever i got palpatations or lost weight .
Recently i have noticed i am shedding a lot of hair, my mood is very low most of the time, also fatigue and everything feels like an effort. I just do not feel right.
I decided to get my bloods taken after reading some interesting updates and stories on here, could this be thyroid not menopause
I am open to advice and thoughts and most grateful to all
Best wishes

Hi, I am not on any medication, i am 51 so i am at thae age for menopause, but i had symptoms like this since my thirties. Especially thinning hair. Doc said years ago that it was hereditary , so i just got on with it. But started looking at help with my menopause and found a lot of info on thyroid. But i find it all very confusing. I will keep reading and educating myself . Grateful for replys and advice 😀
when i was told this by gp i thought it strange, if anything i gain weight easy and felt that i had no symptoms for hyper, i went to gp as i was worried about hair loss and menopause. I also have osteoarthritus. But no other tests were done for graves or Hashi
So should i contact gp and ask to be tested for graves / Hashi . Or do you think im ok and that my symptoms are from menopause and the hair loss could be low oestradiol.
Not sure if i be allowed hrt as my mum and sister had breast cancer .
My boss was feeling ill and having many symptoms of hypothyroidism. Because of this forum and their advice she was able to ask for all appropriate thyroid tests, not just the standard TSH that her doctor normally did during yearly physical. It turned out that with the addition of FT4, FT3, TSH and antibody testing she had Graves disease!
I don't know how long it would have taken to arrive at that diagnosis without her advocating for herself and the ability to say exactly which tests she wanted.
She also did not have a lot of the symptoms for Graves. It seemed more likely that she would have come back with a hashimoto's diagnosis.
With FT4 at 48% of way through range and FT3 at 41.89 I am wondering how that how that equates to poor conversion? I thought I understood a reasonable amount about thyroid hormones however you are making me question myself.
No way are you hyper from these results. What were the results when you saw the GP and advised to get in touch if you lost weight etc? However I think if I was you I woukd be dealing with the other results which are marked red by Medichecks initially. Sorting out these and any vitamin deficiency may help your thyroid health and relieve some symptoms which are shared by more than one condition.
I appreciate the worry about your thyroid however I was treated for many years and with far poorer results than yours the NHS assured me I was in perfect health. No consolation but I deffo think the other areas need some urgent attention.
