It may be trickier and you'll need more patience but I see a nurse practitioner for my thyroid and she has several patients that use a combination of Levothyroxine with natural desiccated extracts. I'm on a synthetic T4/T3 combo but if it doesn't work out I will try Levo plus natural desiccated. I say whatever works for you.

I assume you mean 'Natural Dessicated Thyroid Hormones?

This was the very original thyroid hormone replacements since 1892 and still work well today. Except, if you're in the UK, they removed this from being prescribed a few months ago.

Supplement Facts

Serving Size: 1 Capsule

Servings per Container: 90

Amount Per Serving % Daily Value

Synergistic Complex

(Thyroid Tissue, Adrenal Tissue, Pituitary Tissue, Thymus Tissue, Spleen Tissue, Malto-dextrin (corn-derivative, American Ginseng) 390 mg *

*Daily value not established.

Other Ingredients: Capsule (gelatin), magnesium stearate (vegetable source), kelp. flogard.

No-one has ever managed to explain how much of each ingredient is present in the Synergistic Complex. Nor why it contains Adrenal Tissue, Pituitary Tissue, Thymus Tissue and Spleen Tissue.

The presence of kelp might not be ideal - most often, kelp is just a way of getting iodine. Do you need iodine?

That is the problem! :-)

We usually suggest that people get a non-loading iodine test before commencing supplementation. Then you have at least an idea where you are starting from. Or can avoid if your iodine is already high.

I wouldn’t do that my endo is against taking more idodine than is necessary. you might ask for Armour thyroid or naturethroid. I did horribly on the synthetic thyroid. I think I was allergic. I take Armour only 2 days a week and only 15 mg.now. I went from “dying” to healthy in 5 years but I didn’t have this website and had to pray a lot. Kelp is a cheap way of getting natural iodine too . Vitamin store will carry it. I feel your frustration. I will pray for you. God Bless
