Stomach pain or ulcers caused by Levo?

I have had stomach pain for a number of months, which increased in intensity in the summer so I contacted by GP as I was concerned about gastric cancer( there is a family history) Despite me presenting with upper gastric pain the hospital have carried out lower Gi investigations. This just tells me I have a healthy colon. The GP then requested a H pylori test last week which came back negative. When I spoke to him last week he said a stomach pain could be caused by Levothyroxine. He has just again raised this as a potential cause and wanted to know why I wasn't on omeprazole as protective medication. I did manage not to say "because you have prescribed it! " , he wants me to take 2 weeks of omeprazole to see if this sorts out the pain, however, I'm not aware of Levo causing stomach ulcers. I take my tablets (150mg) during the night with water and I have not previously experienced any stomach problem when taking the Levo. Has anyone any experience of this?

Just had a read around the forum and there are a number of similar queries, I am already following a gf diet, this was queried by a number of the answers to previous posts.

Do you always get same brand of levothyroxine

Are you still taking T3 as well

Obviously need to test TSH, Ft4 and Ft3 together

Last dose of Levothyroxine 24 hours prior to blood test. (taking delayed dose immediately after blood draw).

This gives highest TSH, lowest FT4 and most consistent results. (Patient to patient tip)

If/when also on T3, make sure to take last third or quarter of daily dose 8-12 hours prior to test, even if this means adjusting time or splitting of dose day before test

Is this how you do your tests?

If you normally take levothyroxine at bedtime/in night ...adjust timings as follows prior to blood test

If testing Monday morning, delay Saturday evening dose levothyroxine until Sunday morning. Delay Sunday evening dose levothyroxine until after blood test on Monday morning. Take Monday evening dose levothyroxine as per normal

Essential to regularly retest vitamin D, folate, ferritin and B12

When were these last tested and what vitamin supplements are you currently taking
