Levothyroxine and Oxycodone

Hi has anyone taken both the above drugs without any interactions. Waiting on a hips replacement and the leaflet in the Oxycodone says do not take if you have a thyroid problem. Doctor has prescribed though.

How much have you been prescribed? The patient information leaflets say you may need a slightly lower dose if you have hypothyroidism but it’s a “may” rather than a “must”. It might leave you feeling very sleepy but there’s no way to be sure until you try it!

If you’re concerned it would probably be best to check back with your doctor.

That’s a fairly low dosage (not the lowest—that appears to be 5mg). It can go up to 400mg a day, just to give you some idea. But with all opioids it’s best to start low as people really vary in how they respond.

As I said, check with your doctor if you’re concerned. Or you could try a one off dose to see what happens.

Thank you. I think I’ll try one dose and see if it has any reaction. Was just a little concerned as it said don’t take if you have a thyroid problem and they prescribed them. So we will see. X

Hi there.I'm on levothyroxine and Oxi-codone 50micrograms daily of the levothyroxime and 30mg of Oxi-codone twice daily also I've the breakthrough liquid Oxi-codone at 1mg/ml and taking 5ml/2hrs. Only trouble is they only dish out 1 250ml bottle and at that dosage you go through it in 4.5 days.

I've not had any problems unlike morphine products.

Absolutely shocked at Jazzw comments below about the maximum dosage of 400mg , I'm now tempted to ask my consultant to raise my dosage after seeing that.
