Looking for a named NHS referral

I've moved to Hastings, East Sussex, and my current NHS Endo, who is useless, has written a letter to ask my GP, also useless, to refer me to somewhere nearer. How can I find an understanding NHS Endo for the referral in my new area?

Or is it possible to be refereed out of area if there is someone better? Willing to for someone who knows what they're talking about.

Would it be worthwhile adding roughly where you are now, and how far you might be willing to travel, to your post, then anyone who has encountered someone sympathetic, or knowledgeable can send you a message?

I know when I was looking at a named referral, I was fortunate to know someone working in Endo our locale who understood who the "best of the bunch" here.

To be fair, after a lot of discussion, and lively debate, he has transpired to be supportive of my needs.

Good luck with it all. It shouldn't be this hard, but it is.

Ah, you're quite a way from me, so my chap isn't likely to be a candidate for you.

You can be referred out of area, provided you know whom you want to see, and where the operate from.

I arrived at my named referral after an unsatisfactory (to me in any case) appointment with the local Endo (local in that he did clinics at our cottage hospital). When I discussed the appointment with my GP after the event, she commented I obviously wasn't happy about it and it was she who suggested she could refer me for a second opinion (as is our right under the NHS charter), if I knew whom I wanted to see.

I then took my time to do my research, just as you are now.

Some GPs don't like referring out of area, for some reason, but she was quite happy, although in the end, I didn't need to go out of area. (That was my next step, if needs be).

Just for full disclosure. I'm in Leicestershire (Not the locked down part, as it happen.), just in case that might help anyone else out.

Somebody once said, "We're all in this together", but I think he was talking about something else. :o))
