i have recently started on a course of combo levo/t3. i started this course two weeks ago. I have noticed however that i have been getting indigestion more often and also have a lot more wind. i have been careful with what i eat as i had put on a lot of weight in the past with levo only but have not managed to lose weight. why does levo seem to make me gain weight. Any thoughts?

The problem with adding T3 , is that almost always this will suppress TSH, completely shutting down your own thyroid output....even if not on high enough dose of Levothyroxine or T3
So until you have fine tuned the dose you need you can actually get more hypothyroid if not on quite enough
But you may need more levothyroxine or T3
First step is to get blood test
You will need full thyroid and vitamin testing 6-8 weeks after any dose or brand change
Recommended on here that all thyroid blood tests should ideally be done as early as possible in morning and before eating or drinking anything other than water .
Last dose of Levothyroxine 24 hours prior to blood test. (taking delayed dose immediately after blood draw).
This gives highest TSH, lowest FT4 and most consistent results. (Patient to patient tip, best not mentioned to GP or phlebotomist)
If/when also on T3, make sure to take last 1/2 or 1/3rd of daily dose 8-12 hours prior to test, even if this means adjusting time or splitting of dose day before test
Is this how you do your tests?
Private tests are available. Thousands on here forced to do this as NHS often refuses to test FT3 or antibodies

For thyroid including antibodies and vitamins
Medichecks Thyroid plus ultra vitamin or Blue Horizon Thyroid plus eleven are the most popular choice. DIY finger prick test or option to pay extra for private blood draw. Both companies often have special offers, Medichecks usually have offers on Thursdays, Blue Horizon its more random
i have always had a suppressed tsh as i was on thiroyd for three years and was fine. i was takin two tablets of thiroyd. however due to not been able to get it and advising endo levo did not suit me in the past she agreed to try combo - she put me on 20mcg t3 and 100 levo - in split doses. i now feel bloated and have wind and indigestion - i really just wondered if this was coincidence or as a result of the meds. she is not happy with a suppressed tsh and hopes to reduce my meds after this two months trial. my tsh was 0.03. my t3 was middle of the range and my t4 lower end of the range before i started on the combo. i am due to get retested in may after the trial period. i am totally fed up as i know they will probably reduce. i may have to re-source thiroyd as i am fedup with gps and endos only being concerned with blood results
