My adult son is unwell and has asked me to send this question:
"If you've had a goitre or enlargement of the thyroid on one side, and it has now returned to normal, would it leave any "scarring" or mark that would show up on a thyroid ultrasound scan?".

From what I understand, thyroid U/S shows the overall size of your thyroid as well as the size and density of any nodules/goiters. If your son’s goiter has shrunk, the U/S should shout that but only as compared to the data from a previous U/S.
