I was advised to limit alcohol. I have never been able to tolerate it well. I was advised with Graves we don’t metabolise alcohol the same .

I think only you can see the affects alcohol has onvyiu personally.

I get such a nasty headache and feel very weak on just a small amount that i have cut it altogether.

I’ve never stopped completely (and was never given any advice about alcohol at at all), but I have cut right down, and probably only drink a couple of glasses of wine once or twice a month. It wasn’t really a conscious thing, when I first had Graves’ I was always thirsty, and drank iced water by the gallon, so there wasn’t much room for wine, and it didn’t really quench my thirst anyway.

Yes I am always thirsty, I drink water by the gallon lol. It’s hard giving up completely , my husband is French and always trying new wine. But it just seems to make me ill. I a headache with even a small glass of wine so just don’t bother now.

Stay well or as best you can.

I wasn't given any advice, but I (like other respondents here) have noticed that alcohol effects me more, both in terms of feeling inebriated and then a headache in the morning. Two small glasses of wine is now my max.

I wouldn’t. Alcohol is fun but toxic to the body.

If you have Graves , your body needs all the help it can get.( NO ALCOHOL) STRESS MANAGEMENT and a VEGETABLE BASED DEIT ,GENTLE EXERCISE.

I still drink the occasional glass of wine and he hasn't harmed me - but I don't drink too much because I think as you get older your liver can struggle with too much. I have had a few liver function tests because autoimmune diseases can affect your liver. I read story about someone with Hashimoto's whose liver was affected by the disease - read this

Beef is actually very healing to the body. Vegetables can cause inflammation. This is backed by new research.

Can you provide a link to that research please?

Google it!

Wow, thanks for your help, not! I did in fact carry out a quick search before I asked, but in the absence of any standout key words or phrases, or dates, authors, nationalities or institutions, it was fruitless. Posting guideline no 12: "If relevant, please provide references to health or medical information."

Needed to jump in to say thank you for all you do to support us. I appreciate the information you share and I know others find it helpful, too.

Not relevant. Do your own research.

How bizarre! I think you are somewhat confused about the purpose of this forum, which is to offer mutual help and support by sharing information and experience; not to gratuitously obstruct and hinder.
