My doctor change me from Levothyroxin to brand name synthroid about a month ago. I was taking levo 112 mcg and he change it to synthroid brand name 112mcg he says some ppl don’t tolerate the levo being a synthetic and some do better on brand name. Any light on this? I still feel the same lol I have to go back for test in about 2 weeks which he told me he will up my dosage.

Confused about levo and synthroid
I think your doctor is a little confused. Synthroid is synthetic levo. But, admittedly, a brand name. Perhaps he meant that some people don't tolerate generics very well. But, that wouldn't be because it was generic, the principal ingredient - T4, thyroid storage hormone - is always the same, whatever the brand. It's the fillers that change and can affect people badly. Did you feel unwell on the levo you were taking before?
Yeah I did feel bad on levo I took it for almost two years and never felt good on it. Some days would worst then others, I have to say I feel a bit better after he change to brand name maybe the fillers he also told me that levo it’s consistent on their dose cuz of the fillers mean a 112 mcg pill won’t really be 112 mcg.. well idk but definitely I need a dose increase cuz I’m having all hypothyroidism symptoms and anxiety is bad
I don't really think he knows what he's talking about. You'd be amazed at the number of doctors that just say the first thing that comes into their heads, with no basis in reality.
I would be at all surprised if you didn't need an increase in dose. 112 mcg is not much of a dose.
