Just read Pilo's study. Well "read" very definitely overclaims. It is complicated.

The bit about all subjects taking Lugol's every day is clear as daylight, right at the start.

I take my hat off to the work. But not to anyone who blindly quotes percentages from that as applying to anyone.

Wow, Tania is writing them faster than I can read them!

I've finally caught up on the older posts and read the first one you've posted today. Interesting emphasis on the individual difference and diversity across Pilo's v small sample, and setting the paper in context. A very nice shout out to Diogenes and his collaborators at the end :)

We too have commented adversely on Pilo's study. So I did my favourite thing: having a walk and sitting on an old tree stump in a wood, contemplating. I think there is a better way of approachng the problem of finding how much T3 the thyroid contributes in health and how it varies person to person. We have now a study in progress getting suitable patients to find out, not only what is the average T3 contribution by the thyroid, but what is the variability among the human race. That way, we might be able to forecast who would benefit from combined therapy or perhaps even T3 only. High thyroid contributors should be poorer body convertors.

Diogenes, I know you said the study was going to take awhile but we all look forward to the results. I hope Dr. Smith will take a deep dive into testing and the convention of calling the population reference interval the 'normal range'. PR
