Decreasing my l-thyroxine dose?

Hey!

A while ago I posted my results and you recommended to increase the dose from 50 mcg to 75mcg. First I increased to 62,5 and then 75.

Now I have endless energy , but I don‘t get tired. Never. It feels awful, I can stay awake for 2 days without getting tired. It’s just not possible, sounds good? No!

My resting heart rate is at least 130 and sleeping gets very difficult.

I guess the increase was too much. Should I decrease now to 62,5 or to 50?

Info: I‘m young and have no medical history. My heart is perfectly fine :)

Thanks!

When increasing dose of Levo, it's best to retest levels 6-8 weeks later. What are your current levels?

These were your results you posted a month ago

TSH: 2,16 mU/l (0,27-4,2 mU/l)

fT4: 13,56 pmol/l (12,0-22,0 pmol/l)

fT3: 3,34 pg/ml

(2,02-4,43 pg/ml)

Maybe you only needed 12.5mcg increase and not 25mcg. Maybe your FT3 is now too high, that could possibly affect your heart. Your resting heart rate is too high at 130, normal resting heart rate is 60-100. I have experienced episodes of sporadic tachycardia and I was advised that if it goes over 120 then I should call an ambulance.

I would retest now and ensure you get FT3 tested as well as TSH and FT4.

Well it‘s quite difficult to retest now. I increased my dose slowly so I take the 75mcg dose for only 1-2 weeks now

In the first instance I think that I would reduce down to 50 mcg - because it would be better to get your resting heart rate lower sooner rather than late and also seek medical advice re it too.

Alright I hope I won‘t get too tired

Once your heart rate has reduced you can start to increase your dose again if needed - as Susie says you may be better trying a 12.5 mcg daily increase. You can start an increase with 12.5 mcg on alternate days at first then 12.5 mcg daily and check blood levels if settled on a dose for around 6 weeks.
