Finally figured out that working part time in a low morale place with a bit of bullying at nearly 60 with 2 young lively boys and strait from work to chaos at home my symptoms are very much related to stress and feel despite being on medication awful so I am going to finish work so I have more relaxing me time walking going to the gym and just chilling out

... and chasing up your results with ranges as it would seem from the comments of others you are on the wrong treatment ... Hashimotos can cause swings from Hyper to Hypo and back ...

Good for you. Stress is a major factor in autoimmunity. Can I also suggest adding in some mindfulness or yoga or similar to also help reduce the stress when you have a tiny bit more time for it

You do have to have a complete life change, i was diagnosed 18 months ago with hashis and graves and when i look back on my life before it makes me think no wonder i fell ill....a busy lady working 5 days a week 9-3, picking daughter up from school, looking after the housework, cooking, shopping, sorting out other family commitments, running my daughter to her friends-and a hubby who worked long hours, that all changed when i fell ill -all this is changed now-i use the word no alot and put me 1st-the thyroid loves stress and nagativity and thrives on it. Take care and remember you matter xx

Sounds all too familiar : )

I'm further down the curve from where u are. At my current point, it doesn't seem there is any genuinely effective way to really control the episodes of accumulated stress attacks short of not living. The latest was the worst. Akin to a heart attack or stroke. The awful GP dismissed it lightly. Bastard.

Looks like an RAI is inevitable. Depressing. After having tried hard to avoid it. The heart-related episodes can have devastating consequences : (

It will give you more time too to read the questions/comments on this forum.

Life's too short and especially if we are not improving as we should, with the precribing of thyroid hormones not being at an optimum level for us, the patients.

We need TSH 1 or lower and a FT4 and FT3 in the upper part of the ranges (the latter two rarely tested). Also vitamins/minerals also have to be optimal and you will now be able to look into all of these when you stop work.

Hopefully in a few months you will feel much better and more energetic and also be lively with your two young boys who will enjoy your company.

Your aim is a TSH of 1 or lower, with FT4 and FT3 in the upper part of the ranges.

When we finally feel a change and energy returning, it is a great day.

Always get a print-out of your blood test results and post for comments.

The FT4 and FT3 doctors rarely check but you can get these (if you wish) through one of the private labs. Both have to be near the upper part of the ranges.

Vitamins/minerals also have to be optimal. Vit D, Vit B12, iron, ferritin and folate and GP should check these.

I think you know to take levothyroxine with one full glass of water and wait an hour before eating. If having a blood test it should always be at the very earliest, fasting (you can drink water) and allow a gap of 24 hours between last dose and test and take afterwards. If TSH isn't 1 or lower, ask for an increase in dose as the majority of doctors seem to believe that to get a TSH anywhere in the range means we're on sufficient. It doesn't - sufficient means we feel well and no symptoms.

You will also feel much better without the bullying you are getting at work.

Not what you're looking for?
