I am a 54 female. In 2012 I was diagnosed with a under active thyroid. After 18 further months of being under & over , affecting me mentally so bad I had to give up my full time job as I couldn't cope. I had RAI in 2013 then stabilised on 125mg Levo till Dec 2017 where a routineblood test showed I was over active. Started on 100mg 6 weeks later move over active. Down to 75mg still over active. Down to 50mg. 8 weeks later under active. TAG 34.1. So.... how could this happen when my thyroid is suppose to be dead? Has it come back to life? Otherwise where is the natural hormone coming from? Hoping doc will refer me back to the consultant at the hospital

RAI doesn't always kill the thyroid completely. Depends how much they give you.

Have you ever had antibodies tested? Because it sounds to me as if you have Hashi's. It's not possible to go from hypo to hyper, but if you have Hashi's, you can have sudden deposits of hormone from the dying cells, that cause your levels to rise.

On the other hand, what exactly do you call 'hyper'? Do you have copies of your blood test results for us to see and understand better?
