Open question as I have not seen this discussed here - any views from anyone on this.

Does anyone have a HR under 50.

Do thyroid hormones influence this.

Thank you.

Hypothyroid with low levels of active hormone at cellular level cause bradycardia and in the long term damage to the conduction system of the heart. This is one reason that untreated hypothyroidism is dangerous. If left untreated people can go into a myxoedematous coma and die. It is one reason I feel so sad when people post about stopping medication, in effect a slow suicide or at best long term irreversible damage to their bodies.

I have a friend who has brachycardia, depression, chronic fatigue,is always cold, has a TSH of over 3,many many symptoms, but refuses to contemplate taking thyroid replacement. She now refuses to discuss the issue with me,so i have had to let go.

It is hard I know, my aunt ended up in a myxoedematous coma after becoming psychotic from hypothyroid. Sadly she ended up with severe heart failure from untreated hypothyroid and died aged 45 yrs. This was 30 years ago but people still die every year. You cannot force anyone only try and point them towards support but with the blinkered levothyroxine suits everyone approach this can be difficult. I wish you and your friend well.

My heart rate is pretty low.

I recently got a Fitbit to be able to show good record as proof to Medics.

They keep suggesting I am over medicated as TSH is always very low. I am on small dose of T3 plus T4, as result TSH is often low. Both FT3 and FT4 are in range.

Current dose 125mcg Mercury Pharma Levothyroxine plus 15mcg Morningside Healthcare Liothyronine (divided dose 3 x 5mcg)

My resting heart beat is typically 53 or 54, but at times drops just under 50. (Fitbit of course thinks that makes me super fit athlete!)

Recent tests just back

TSH 0.022 (0.27 - 4.2)

FT3 5.37 (3.10-6.80)

FT4 17.7 (12.0-22.0)

TT4 87.9 (59 - 154)

TPO 91.3 <34

TG 413 <115

Vitamins are all very good, strictly gluten free diet and strictly soya free. Positive for heterozygous DIO2 gene

Reduced T3 from 20mcg ten weeks ago as I felt over treated, FT3 was right at top of range and TSH even lower. Resting heart rate was however better at around 60.

Both antibodies have increased since reducing T3

Yep me too! Resting heart rate 45-55. Dropped to 45 before medication for thyroid then went to 55-60 but is dropping back down. I asked the question on the forum if it indicated a need for an increase in thyroid meds and was advised it was.

Wow -

How incredibly helpful -

Had never linked low pulse to hypothyroid in this very direct way and assumed it was fairly genetic and perhaps a sign of health and fitness being lower :)

Anyway, taking higher dose of levo now so hope this may improve pulse.

Same here! I was diagnosed with Bradycardia with HB of 45. That was before thyroid medications. My TSH was 1 but hormones under range. Finally I found endo that diagnosed my hypo and I was given T4+T3. My HB is now 55-60 and my heart is in much better condition, but because I was undertreated for so long it took very long for my body and heart to recover... shame that doctors do not look at symptoms, but only to TSH... the only symptom that for them was excluding my hypo was that I am skinny... but after hormones my weight increased to healthy scale to much surprice of doctors again ;)
