Carbimazole side effects

Just looking for advice here. I restarted carbimazole 7 weeks ago and take 10mg twice a day. I have an mouth ulcer and noticed under side effects it says to go immediately to Emergency Dept or see your Dr if you develop sore throat or mouth ulcers. Just wondering what this is about - do I need to go to hospital? I feel fine other than the ulcer

Get an urgent telephone GP apt to find out if you need to see them. Better to check than worry.

It seems strange though to have to go 'immediately to the emergency department or see your Dr' for one mouth ulcer. It's 10pm on a rainy Friday night and I'm in bed hahaha hoping it's ok to go tomorrow

The advice is there for a reason. Carbimazole can lower white cells which fight infection. You will need a blood test to check white cell count. If it is low you will have to stop taking Carbimazole until the infection clears.

Thank you Clutter, I saw my GP Saturday morning and he told me to stop taking the medication and have blood test. I just called for the results and he left instruction for me to start taking the medication again so I assume the blood tests were within normal range and the mouth ulcers which are now gone were just a coincidence x
