Fatty Liver
Hi
I have a fatty liver as well. I believe it is thyroid related but all I have been told sto lose wieght...underactive thyroid does not like this.
redriverhealthandwellness.c...
I did find this information which shows its thyroid related, and probably not a high enough T3 level
Hope this helps
Thanks I've a 5 cm cyst on liver had the nuclear scan going back for results I know there is fatty liver also but I want to be prepared before I see them I've never drank so I know it's not that and I eat healthily so I guess it's thyroid. I've hashis and swing between hyper and hypo.
Hi Mauds, yes, I have both acid reflux and non alcoholic fatty liver disease (the latter diagnosed recently). I've had hashi's for over 10 years and am sure it's related. Got the reflux first (which I now control by running to sink and glugging cold water the moment I get that telltale sign, as don't take the proton pump inhibitors anymore - and this always works; whereas the pills cause it to return the next day). Also had gallstones diagnosed recently also. I wonder if these conditions may be quite common when your body is compromised with inadequately treated low thyroid for some time.
A family member has had non-alcoholic fatty liver disease for several years and is now diagnosed as hypothyroid.
Hello Maud's,
I have read somewhere, but can't for the life of me find it ☺️ that a fatty liver is linked with hypothyroidism, along with a propensity for high cholesterol and diabetes, in some cases. I have them all, and weigh less than 8stone wringing wet, so nothing to do with being overweight. It does seem that when medication is optimal test results are better. If I can find the article I'll post it.
I went undiagnosed for a long time and gained a lot of weight. And I was never overweight...... I ended up with my gallbladder out ..........it was in really bad shape and also had a liver cyst removed........ they also saw fat on my liver when they did surgery....... I think when your metabolism is not working properly it really causes many problems all over your body. Best of luck to you Susita
Thank you it looks like it's definately going hand in hand with thyroid. My weight goes up and down like a yoyo I've two wardrobes one fat one thin was under 11 stone in June as I was hyper now almost 13 stone after going hypo and I didn't gain the weight from eating. Wish this bloody thyroid would give up and it would be an end to hashis flare.
Thanks I feel a wreck this is all I need
