Accidently Ran out Of Levothyroxine
Garnera1974,
Ask your pharmacist to 'lend' you some Levothyroxine until your prescription is ready in a couple of days.
It usually takes 7-8 days to absorb a dose so most people won't notice any adverse effects for around a week.
I found that I felt better for several days after not taking any levothyroxine. Don't be fooled by this, you will then start to feel much worse, but only gradually.
Get some from the pharmacist as already stated.
Being that I do not have a thyroid I find even one or two days without meds I can tell the difference. I was feeling very bad. Today I am feeling better but not 100% yet. Thank you
Everybody is different so I appreciate what you say. I have only my own experiences to go on.
I was gradually getting worse and worse on levo on its own after 8 years and without a thyroid. I gained a great deal of improvement by moving to NDT. My doc refused to prescribe it ("it is unlicensed" they said, which was true but totally irrelevant) and they failed to tell me about combined T3/T4 treatment which most likely would have given me some relief.
I am now engaged on a one-man mission to get NDT licensed but not yet made much progress, as expected.
I am glad that you at least now feel somewhat better.
Unfortunately when I had to do a cancer screening I had to go 8 weeks without medication. That was the worst 8 weeks. Lately I have been experiencing hair loss, major weight loss and fatigue. So hopefully that will work itself out, My hair is very thick so no one notices the hair loss
