I am new to this site. Hoping someone can give me some suggestions. I have been Smelling smoke for abut three days now, it used to be once in awhile but now everyday. I have had sinus/allergy issues lately. Does anyone have any answers to this please,

I have regular sinus problems plus dust allergy and hay fever, I've had the smelling smoke issue a few times and it was a mild sinus infection.
Hmmm, maybe that is what I have, do have lots of pressure in sinuses. Thank you,
From the beginning of this forum we have had a trickle of posts like yours. Smelling smoke - and sometimes other things - which don't exist seems to be something many of us go through.
Happened to me but only very mildly. I think, if it really lasted and affected people a lot, we would see many more posts. Hopefully it will fade for you too. 
Hi! Phantosmia is the condition I believe you are referring to. Smelling smoke can be associated with many other illnesses such as depression, stroke, brain tumour, Schizophrenia, Alzeimers, Parkinson etc. If you have been having sinus/ allergy issues lately, it is likely that it is an infection. I say check with your GP and have some antibiotics just in case it's an infection. Good luck!

Hi I had this problem for a while I could smell smoke every evening while watching TV, I think mine was due to being under medicated at the time as now my dose has been increased I don't get it any more. You maybe ought to get it checked out by gp just to be on safe side.
Yes your probably right, it is on and off, have not had it the last few days.

Maybe it will fade soon, I hope so, drives me nuts even choke from it that is why sometimes I feel like it could be real smoke around. But it happens at home and at work.
Hi yes I used to smell smoke every night in bed, drove me crazy as I couldn't think where it was coming from.
Since getting my meds right I didn't get it very often, but then discovered I have an allergy problem, which leads to blocked nose & earache/balance issues.
I now have a nasal spray to alleviate these symptoms & I know when I smell smoke it's because I need to use the spray.
Make sure your meds are optimal & chat with your doc

I get it on prescription it's a nasobec(TM) aqueous 50mg beclometasone spray

I smelt woodsmoke for several months at odd times and kept looking for the source. I did tell my GP and the oncologist I was seeing but they all looked blankly at me. I saw a few references to the condition but never did get to the bottom of it. I was being treated for lymphoma soon after but I cannot prove that it was directly linked,.
So are you still smelling it?

No it went early on in my treatment and has not returned. It was a lovely smell.
yes i get this smoke and also burning electrical smell, sometimes its so strong i cant eat and get headaches. I think mine is worse when im stressed. When it first happened i use to check all plugs, appliances etc drove me bonkers x

yes i still get it, it is much stronger when im stressed, then it is really over powering x
It drives me crazy, hate the smell of smoke, I feel like I am choking from it when it happens so it is hard to believe it could be phantom?
I kept smelling petrol for a while. It drove me crazy. I had sinus problems at the time and grapefruit seed extract really seemed to help fix that (and restricting dairy). I haven't smelled things that aren't there for ages now.

I still sense phantom smells from time to time - electrical burning, rubber, wood smoke, a sharp fuel-type aroma, etc. They haven't entirely disappeared, but once I started self-treating my pernicious anaemia, the problem abated considerably. That tells me that the changes/damage to my nervous system were probably responsible.
I use saline solution for funny sinus things. I also get burning smell if I hold my cigarette lighter too close to the hairs in my nose. But that's probably not the same thing.
