I get to 2 pm at most am o am so starting to flag. My question is..

How do any of you get a dinner prepared for kids /family etc?

Don't get me wrong my hubby is great and after a full day at work is still prepared to cook us all a meal (with my help/guidance. haha)

I just wish I could do more. I feel so useless... :-((

You need a Full Thyroid Function Test. If GP wont do so you can get a private one.

You may be on insufficient dose that it doesn't provide you with sufficient T3. Levothyroxine is T4, is inactive and has to convert to t3, the Active hormone required in our billions of receptor cells. We cannot function without enough and our brain contains the most cells.

The test should be the earliest possible, fasting (you can drink water) and allow approx 24 hours between levo and the test and take afterwards.

If you've not had B12, Vit D, iron, ferritin and folate checked ask for these too.

Look on T3 as the 'energy' we need to run our metabolism.

TSH, T4, T3, Free T4 and Free T3 and thyroid antibodies.

Demetria,

You've only been taking Levothyroxine a couple of weeks so it will only just be starting to work. Some people wouldn't cope at all with TSH 125 and FT4 3.9 and you're doing well if you're managing to keep going until 2pm. Things will get better but it is going to take a long time before you feel well. This isn't a bad time to let the household standards slip a bit and to eat some ready meals and take aways. When you are feeling better you can catch up with the things you let slide.

Hi! Demitria. So what if there's dust and the carpet needs a hoover. There's time in the future for that. I dreaded parents evening in case I read my daughter's diary and it said "my mum sleeps all the time" or "I had to wait for my dinner again" because truth was I only had strength to take my daughter to school and sleep until I had to pick her up and then sleep before I could feed her. It was horrendous. But it gets better. Reserve your energy for cuddling your kids and helping hubby in the kitchen, helping hubby, not him helping you. It's hard to take a back seat but very necessary. My daughter didn't fill her diary with horror stories, God bless her, but she remembers the cuddles. My very best wishes to you.

I know its difficult to get through the day sometimes! Last night almost fell asleep standing up with a pan in my hand! I find if I try to keep busy its easier than if I give in to the tiredness but as soon as I stop I can hardly stay awake.

Here's hoping an increase in dose will be the next step and hopefully I'll have more energy. Finding the lighter mornings a help in getting going though xx

Have you tried pacing? I have chronic pain as well as an underactive thyroid. Some days I can't even get dressed!

So, instead of pushing through to 2pm, take smaller steps and fit less in. I empty the dishwasher whilst making breakfast and stack the plates - hubby puts them away. I then take pain medication and go back to bed for a couple of hours.

When I get up, I fill the dishwasher and washing machine then sit down and watch telly for a bit. I prep for dinner whilst I think about lunch sometimes, I make dinner after I've sat down for lunch. But I don't do that if I'm going out. I try and get out the house at least 5 times a week. Sometimes I'm too ill to get dressed. The important thing is that I pace my days so I'm less tired in the evening and at weekends.

Try taking a look at the spoon theory and read up on pacing for chronic fatigue and ME. It'll help I promise! Good luck! Xx

This is what I have been trying to do mainly because I have fibro too I know about pacing. I've just got to practice it.. Then master it. .. Hahah ..thank you so much x x x x
