Hi everyone. I have been newly diagnosed and am seeing an NHS specialist tomorrow in Market harborough and would very much appreciate any advice as to what questions to ask.

Vera7,

I would ask whether your hyperthyroidism is autoimmune ie due to Graves disease. Absence of Graves antibodies can mean that remission from hyperthyroidism is more likely to be permanent whereas having Graves antibodies means remission will fail in more than 50% of patients.

If your endo arranges your blood tests make it a habit to ask for a printout of the results and ranges or make a note of them yourself so you can track how you are progressing.
