Can anyone provide advice on foods to eat and foods to avoid?
I've been doing research, but am going around in circles. So many sources contradict each other.
I love Alpro but apparently with Hypothyroidism (Hashimotos) I should avoid it?

I'm no expert but the main thing is to eat whole foods and gluten free. Cut out all processed food. Eat fresh meat, organic and grass fed where possible. Root veg, green veg. Nuts and seeds. Minimise grains. I eat gluten free oats. And rice pasta. Oat and rice cakes are good.Try 100% Gluten free for 4-6 weeks. Then you can add in foods and see how you feel after you eat them. When I first went gluten free I tried M & S for gluten free cake and bread. It made me ill! When I carefully read the ingredients I wasn't suprised. Loads of additives, guar gum, soy lethisin, fructose etc. These processed foods can trigger inflammation of the gut and make us feel ill. I now eat very clean unprocessed food. A lot of people say to avoid soy products. I've never been a fan of soy. Only the fermented soy products like tamari and miso. I'm fine with them so long as I get the gluten free ones. Hope this helps a bit! 😊
K8TE Presumably Alpro soy based products? Us Hypos should avoid all forms of soy unless it is fermented, particularly as you have Hashi's as I've read it can cause flare ups.
Here is just one article about Hashi's and food

Plenty more waiting to be discovered I imagine.
Alpro do almond and coconut based products as well and so do a few other manufacturers but even then look at what fillers they use.
I know people who have been sick on dairy free products and have had to have a couple of days of work , so even if you avoid the soya based products I suggest you keep the eating any processed dairy free products to a strict minimum.
Rude Health are the only substitute milks that don't have rubbish added to them.
Hi K8TE
I have used gram flour for yorkshire puddings and pastry and both have been very successful. You have to roll out the pastry, to which I added an egg, between clingfilm thought it was going to be really hard, but it was really crumbly. Having hashis has made me start to cook from scratch and I am enjoying discovering new ingredients to cook with.
Was missing cake and made an orange gluten free cake using ground almonds and eggs no fat, my family said it was delicious.
I know it is not gluten free but I have been occasionally having sourdough and have not had any adverse effects. Supposed to be better to digest?
