Welcome to our forum and if you get a print-out from the surgery of the results with the ranges and post for comments.
If you're having symptoms and you've to wait another couple of months that's o.k. for GP, he's not suffering. The guidelines tell them to wait until the patient has a TSH of 10, some will prescribe at a slightly lower level. These are a few hints:-
When you have blood tests for thyroid hormones, they should be the very earliest possible, and fasting although you can drink water. Leave about 24 hours between your last dose of levothyroxine (if you've been prescribed) and the test as this allows the TSH to be at its highest and that is mainly what the doctor uses to adjust hormones.
Levothyroxine should be taken on an empty stomach first thing with one full glass of water and wait about an hour before eating. Food interferes with the uptake of the hormones.
It can also be taken at bedtime as long as you've last eaten about 3 hours previously.

Always get a print-out of your results with the ranges. Ranges are important as labs differ in them and it makes it easier to comment.
Ask for a copy of the ones you've just had, we are entitled by law, and some surgeries charge a nominal sum for them.Post on a new question for comments.
Have just been diagnosed myself and have also been told to have another blood test in 2 months but think this is just to test that the amount of thyroxine I am taking is enough or to much whatever way it turns out at least they are keeping an eye on me .
