Just saying hello. I am here to learn as much about my thyroid condition from real people. Not Google or a Dr who is constantly running behind and fails to answer my questions.

Thank you

Welcome to our forum.

When your blood tests are due always get the earliest possible appoint and fast. Also allow 24 hours between the last dose of hormones and the test and take it afterwards.

This procedure allows the TSH to be highest as results can be skewed if food/hormones is taken before test.

Always get a print-out of your results with the ranges. If you've not had B12, Vit D, iron, ferritin and folate tested ask for these next time.

Hi and thank you.

I never new about the above mentioned, as in ferritin and the others. Will deffo have to do more research.

If I read things in a forum or on a site my doctor always fobs me off when I mention it.

I have no idea where to start with my thyroid. Reading through posts on here is answering more questions.

Thank you

Tell your doctor that you have got information and advice from the NHS Choices for thyroid gland dysfunctions. (You can also become a member of Thyroiduk.org.uk for £20 and get four quarterly magazines etc.)

thyroiduk.org.uk/tuk/member...

I doubt he can refute what you are told as most on this forum have had the same runaround or worse and remain unmedicated. :)

Best decision you have made. Best decision I made too. Best Wishes on your road to better health x

Hi Charz03 - welcome and hope you find some answers here - you need to ask the Questions though!

Don't discount Google or Wikipedia because there Are some excellent leads to also scientifically inform you, not only about your Thyroid but the potentially numerous or not, other "symptoms" and or conditions that will almost certainly follow, or you may have some things going on already you haven't associated with your Thyroid.

You'll no doubt find an abundance of answers and suggestions from the world and his wife on TUK. Not all will be correct, many certainly won't -

However, You'll soon see the Admins and frequent Regulars on here, many of whom have had Thyroid disorders for years and years and learnt how to help themselves manage the condition and their health.

Me I'm up for researching the various health conditions I've had in my life. Things I'd never given a 2nd thought to over the years. Much of it is connected and 10 days ago my Haemotolgist said he thinks the Thyroid is the root cause - he's sending me to see a Rheumatologist because of bone problems called CMT. muscle and skin pigment loss

Remember we are all individuals, with different genes and DNA and different health conditions.

Post your questions about Thyroid blood tests and results on here and the 'experts at understanding them will answer you. None of us are medically qualified - worth remembering - but can only say what works for us individually! I wish you well with your health and hope you have none, or any other problems arise.
