Hi Mick44 and welcome to the forum. If you want to ask any questions there are many knowledgable members here. Post your blood test results and ranges and members will advise.
Welcome to the forum. I guess you're feeling a bit down and worried about what happens now. Hope your doctor has started you on medication and arranged for you to have more blood testing once that starts to work. The usual process is to begin with a low dose of Levothyroxine (25 or 50mcgs), then increase gradually with regular blood testing till you reach the correct dose for you. Hope you will start to feel better soon? 😊👍 MariLiz
Hi there
OK, being diagnosed with a life long condition does suck but at least you've been diagnosed and it is very treatable. The majority of people (around 87.5 per Cent) take levothyroxine and feel normal on it.
As said other posts they will slowly increase your dosage until you are hopefully at the right level. If you've been ill and undiagnosed for a long time it will take around a year to get back to normal but you will feel better and better month on month.
If you don't feel better after you've been on the right dose for around 6 months then those on the forum are always happy to advise and hopefully get you better
It can be a long road but at least you know what it is and that it can be sorted out
Good luck
Thank you all for the welcome
I am taking 50 mcg a day for now.
There isn't much difference at the moment still tired, brain fogged and ringing in my head. Hopefully these will abate over time.
Update
Overall I feel worse! Aching all over with an almost total lack of energy.
My muscle mass has toned slightly, my eyesight is improving and my dry akin is much better though.
I am going back to my GP to see what can be done. He seems to be following the party line on this one and I'm loathed to self medicate.
