Poor spirometry results.

When I belonged to a gym, I had my lung function tested regularly with one of those cardboard tubes that you blow into. My results were never very good, although I`v`e never had athsma or any other lung probem. I never get out of breath or tired going upstairs or exercising. My last spirometry test was a few years ago, & since then Iv`e been diagnosed with mild hypothyroidism & am on 50mg of Levothyroxine daily. Could my untreated thyroid problem have contributed to the poor spirometry results?

I've always been dubious as to whether it tests anything other than your ability to blow into a tube. Nurse never seemed able to tell if I was trying or not, nor did it seem to make any difference to the results. Apart from T3 and B12, the best thing found for my breathing was doing Buteyko exercises (half heartedly, I admit) and learning not to breathe through my mouth - ever. I went from 10 puffs a day on the inhaler to about 2 puffs total in the last 4 years.
