Susiboo, take an antihistamine. If it relieves itching you're having an allergic reaction to something.
Hi Susi - are you recently diagnosed Hypothyroid & taking Thyroxine?
there's many causes of intense itching e.g. coeliac, PBC etc... you need to track back, find out and avoid it if possible!

I have just read an article in Harmony (Thyroiduk's quarterly magazine) and Peter Warmingham has an article,' headed 'Don't Forget your Iron and Ferritin in page 14 which states (amongst other things) an Iron deficiency can also cause itchiness. So if you've not had iron and ferritin checked as for these to be done. Also he does mention a whole range of symptoms which can be caused by iron and ferritin deficiencies and can mimic hypothyroidism.
