I have vita pos ointment on repeat prescription due to severely dry eyes. In UK it has been unavailable for over 4 months. Does anyone know why there is a problem?

Also is there a community for eyecare on healthunlocked? I haven't found one yet.

I do not know the product - but I think it is not prescription-only in the UK.
If it is important enough and you are able to afford it, it does seem to be available online.
For emergency use (i.e. better than nothing) I think you will find that LacriLube has a similar base but does not contain the vitamin A.
That's annoying isn't it - why don't you email the company and ask them? Maybe they could tell you where you might find someone with some stock still available even if it means you have to buy it yourself. I've used their other products but unfortunately they aren't 'gunky' like the stuff you are after.
I have already tried emailing with no response. Only other thing would be phoning their customer care.
That's annoying isn't it. Worth trying customer care or ask around independent opticians and see if any of them stock or have stocked it or could even give you a contact number for the rep - I find a lot more places stock HycoSan drops than used to and if they are produced / sold by the same company that might be a way in for you.
I tried to get some LacriLube today and the pharmacist said he was having trouble getting hold of it from the suppliers. He gave me Gel Tears instead. I'll try them tonight as I use this stuff overnight.
Wow! I didn't realise there were any problems with LacriLube supplies.
You might find this interesting - do read the Q&A and reviews.

I was told lacrilube was not available about five months ago. Find Gel Tears ok.
I've just bought some stuff called Artelac Nightime - it's kind of gunky and works fairly well. I hate the gunky stuff but I've got a ptyrigium that is being a nuisance at he moment probably because my eyes are very dry - I've had / got some sort of virus or something that has irritated the roof of my mouth - feels like it is on fire, which is pretty horrible so needs must and I've bought myself a tube of eye gunk to sort it all out
WELL, finally got lacrilube! The chemist phoned me and said the ointment had finally arrived and I could pick it up.
When I got there, my prescription was waiting. She also told me all the lacrilube was gone again, they had filled as many prescriptions as they could. I just hope it's delivered on a regular basis now.
