I want mine to stop so hope theres a chance for me.

Hello fairyeyes,

I'm so sorry you feel like this. I don't suffer from endo but understand it can be caused by a hormone imbalance and it's oestrogen that makes it worse.

You have only been medicating on thyroid hormone for a month so hormones will still be very unbalanced. The endocrine system is all related so if something is out of kilter in one area it may show symptoms in another.

You must be due for a blood test soon to check thyroid hormone levels so if you post results complete with ranges (numbers in brackets) members will comment.

You may find all your symptoms improve once you are optimally medicated.

Have you had Vit B12, Vit D, folate and ferritin tested recently?

The following link although primarily aimed at Hashi sufferers ...gives a very clear account of the connection between thyroid hormones and a woman's cycle.

I hope you feel better soon fairyeyes.

Female problems are common with hypothyroidism until they get to an optimum of thyroid hormone replacement. Periods can be affected, i.e either too much or too little or none. Everything in our body is affected. Fertility too can be problematic.

Some women may have hysterectomies if it is not known she is hypothyroid at that time.

Hysterectomy for me will only be done if i have no option as i have battled with endometrosis since my very early 20s,and a hysterectomy is not the be all and end all(hope thats the correct saying) i must be getting close to the menopause.I actually thought with all my symptoms that was what was happening to me,i have been on Zoldex twice and Zoldex can bring on an early menopause, but so far its not happening, silly body of mine.Hormones have been very cruel to me,just want then to now be kind as i am so tired from it all.

Endometriosis is a very painful condition and wouldn't wish it on anyone.

I hope you can find some relief from pain. Do you have the latest copy of your thyroid blood test results with the ranges and post for comments, just in case someone can help.

One of the reasons I managed to find out about having hypothyroidism was that my periods stopped. I had had a baby (was 27) and by the time he was around one year old, I hadn't had any periods since giving birth. I only went to the doctor because we wanted a third baby! The first two times I was seen by a male doctor, who said that all my symptoms (tiredness, depression, etc) were because I had had a baby! The third time I saw a woman doctor, who actually checked my pulse (54) and did a blood test, which showed myxodema. She started me on a very low dose of thyroxine and gradually built it up. Three months later I had a period, and then I was pregnant! After having my daughter, my periods stabilised, as long as I was on the right dose of thyroxine.

I went to the doctor when I was something around 45 to ask for a dose increase which I got as they hadn't a clue anyway but then mentioned I had t had a period for 6 months so was put on HRT for 10 years. When I was taken off needed to readjust my thyroid meds so went privately back to the doctor who had first diagnosed my thyroid problem. He went back to fisrt principles and had me charting my temperature and we found that some of the time I was still ovulating! So I must have been put on HRT far too early when my periods stopped for being under medicated!
