Other hypoT patients have reported spells of metallic taste and in my case everything tasted vinegar and sour for a month except fruit and water. There doesn't seem to be a trigger and it often stops just as suddenly as it started.

Thanks for replying - probably nothing to do with being hypo. or levo Just hope it stops. More intriguing than anything Even chocolate and fruit tastes salty!!!

I had the same - I was hypersensitive to salt and I couldn't eat any processed food for months. I had Graves (hyperthyroid) though. There is often sodium added to things you wouldn't expect like sweet foods as well as savory and water has sodium chloride in it too.

If you have become hypersensitive to salt then you will taste it in water like I did.

When my thyroid levels stabilised it improved.

Thanks for info - didn't know water had salt added!!! One learns new things all the time!!!
