I don't think the calcium in milk is enough to compete with your levo. A calcium tablet might, though.

I'd take half the dose in the morning and half at bedtime on changeover day, and perhaps two doses on the next day, first dose when you remember it and other at bedtime. By day 3 take it all at bedtime. It depends how hypo / how sensitive to dose change you are, you might be able to just miss a morning dose and take it at bedtime.

I leave an hour before having breakfast. I have my calcium in the evening.

It's fine to miss your usual morning dose and take it at bedtime instead. Levo has a long half-life.

Pharmacology/Pharmacokinetics/Stability — Following oral administration, about 50 to 80 percent of an oral dose is actually absorbed, and reaches peak serum levels within two to four hours of ingestion. Therapeutic effects are seen within three to five days, and last for seven to 10 days.

That's what they say, and it works for some people just as they say. But not everyone :)

Interesting ! I have Hypoparathyroidism, the medication for that is calcium.

I have never been told not to take the calcium with my Levo although but I do leave an hours gap between the two meds.

There seems to be many things we are not being advised on...........may be that is why I feel no better for taking the medication.

I have just started taking T3 in a 10mc dose to see if this helps me with the chronic lethargy.

I take my meds in the morning.......if anyone thinks I should alter this please inform me.

Think the important thing is to leave a good time gap between levo and anything else that is likely to affect it. I know a few people who have not been told about that. One of whom takes or maybe it is took now, his with his breakfast and washed it down with a milky coffee.

I tried taking mine at night because that would have been much more convenient for me but I found I felt better taking mine in the morning so it was a case of back to setting the alarm and taking it early on an empty stomach.

I have read that levo should be taken apart from everything else and 4 hours should elapse between supplements. Also some minerals help to convert levo into T3. See bottom of page:-

Yes Bobby, you are right. You are given levothyroxine and left to get on with it and thereafter we are told how well we are according to the TSH result and clinical symptoms ignored or not known by GPs.

Sympathies, Bobby. That was my experience too. And the same has happened to a lot of people who have gravitated to this site.

When I wanted to change from morning to evening for taking my Levothyroxine, the doctor told me to just forget the next morning one and start it the next evening. He said it would make no difference because some would still be in my body anyway.

So that's what I did.

When i changed from morning to night i took my dose in the morning and again at night i felt fine like that and i didn't dare miss it out in the morning as i knew from experience i would feel awful that day.

Have a look at foods to avoid on the thyroid uk website.
