Is a TSH of 6.83, T3-103 and T4-9.6 normal for a woman aged 50?
Hi Sartaj. Do you have the ranges for those tests? Do you know if it was T3 or Free T3 that was measured? Do you have symptoms and if so are you on any thyroid medication?
If the ranges are the ones most people get with their results, then you seem to be slightly hypothyroid (underactive). Have you looked at the thyroid symptoms checklist? Do you feel well? Some people (OK not many) feel OK with results like that. Most people feel a bit ropey (cold, slightly depressed, hair falling out....) and some feel truly terrible. At your age you may well have attributed your symptoms (assuming you have them) to menopause or 'getting older'. Don't!
What did your doctor say about these results? Normally TSH should not exceed 4 or 5 at the most. Mine is around 2.5, with a free T4 result around 11 to 12 (range 10-22), so the low end of the range, and I have almost all of the hypothyroid symptoms on the list.
