What are symptoms for graves??
Hi I am recently diagnosed with Graves. My symptoms....palpitations, profuse sweating, tremor, insomnia, anxiety, aching weak legs, itchy sore eyes and fatigue.
Rapid weight loss despite increased appetite is also common, although weight increase is less often experienced.
Eye lids can retract so eyes appear bulbous and there may be darkening under the eyes. This is thyroid eye disease (TED) usually associated with Graves' autoimmune hyperthyroid disease.
All of pippins symptoms plus clutters weight loss and sore itchy eyes with a bit of double visions thrown in but that was there before I was diagnosed, I lost a massive amount of weight, was seriously grouchy, didn't want to bother with people, I alternated between not wanting to bother talking to people yet being over talkative when I did. Felt as if I had some form of dementia - even spoke to my GP about it - that was way before I was diagnosed, see the checklist from TUK
Hi,From my experience i had a heart rate of 145 beats per minute,Tremors in the hands,a small left sided goiter, staring eyes,Paranoia,Sweating and itchy crawling skin, especially on my shins,Sweating , rapid wieght loss even though I ate and ate and loose frequent bowel movements.Hope this helps with your diagnosis.Have you seen a docter? if not then you should and they will do a simple blood test if this proves positive then you will be refurrerd to an endocrinologist if Graves is suspected.
Good luck Emma.
I had dramatic weight loss - could eat whatever I want & still lose weight, hair loss, diarrhoea, rapid heart rate. I don't think it's a one size fits all kind of thing though, everyone feels different, some worse than others. I actually feel worse now than I did when my Graves manifested.
All of the above plus agitation, anger, loss of patience
Swollen baggy eyes. Extremely itchy skin. Constantly sick. And all of the above.
All of above
All of the above plus really watery sore eyes that any sunlight made worse so wore sunglasses for the first 2 tears every time I went out even in the supermarket it helped.
HI,i was hyper Thyroid not sure if that is the same as grave, my thyroid was making 7 time the amount it should have. I felt great, I did not need any sleep. I could eat anything and lose weight, I was full of energy. My mind was going at atomic speed. Now be careful , as the endo's love taking the thyroid out and or they love zapping it with a dose of radiation. They will try you on a dose of c arbisamole not sure of the spelling or PPUC. it takes a long time for the thyroid to settle down, may be up to two years. I was only given 7 months and my dr whipped mine out. If they do want to take it out only let them take half of it. Insist and stamp your feet and cause a fight but dont let them take it all out. patients is the watch word here and good luck. Oh yea they only applies if there is nothing causing the graves if its cancer them you have to have it out ..I thought I would make that point.
