No, but it sounds very interesting. Are you having it done privately? I have also had TT and need quite large amounts of medication for my size, (very skinny) so wonder if it would be useful for me to use when my Endo thinks my dose is too high. Are you on any other meds or just Thyroxine? What symptoms do you have? I have found T3 has made a big difference, added to my Thyroxine. Please post results of the test when you have had it and tell us what it entails.

Hi, I'm having it done on NHS - I currently attend joint Endo clinic appointments. Am on 200 mcg go Levo - started on 125 after TT last April. Still hypo - TSH is over 100 and T4 very low. Am always tired despite sleeping lots, very achy (especially legs) and have put on lots of weight despite eating less. Feel fed up and have bad 'brain fog'. Had blood test for coeliacs but not been given results yet.

Sounds as though you should definitely be asking for T3 . Hope it goes well. We shall all be wanting one now!

What is this 'thyroid absorption test' called? I would be very interested to know. Good luck

Hi, it's just called a thyroxine absorption test. It's to see how much thyroxine I actually absorb.

Yes I would be interested too in what the test is called. I too did not get good readings in the first 18 months after my operation. Have they suggested a scan to check for thyroid residue?

This is quite an interesting article about thyroxine absorption:

How do You Approach the Problem of TSH Elevation in a Patient on High-dose Thyroid Hormone Replacement?

My suspicions are that your pituitary is over-producing TSH because of a small tumour; or because you have "pituitary resistance to thyroid hormone"! But there certainly are other possibilities.
