Please can you detail your dosage and what meds you are on.

Have you got your latest thyroid bloods with the ranges?

Also, how are you feeling?

Do you feel that your pulse rate is too high or too low? What is your pulse rate? How are you measuring it?

This information will help people to better offer informed support.

HI,

My blood results were; tsh 3.64 (0.35 - 5.0) and ft4 was 15.7.

Doctor increased my Levo from 100 mcg a day.

To 125 mcg, mon, wed & fri with 100 on the rest of the days.

My pulse now is around 74 but can be high as 82 when resting.

It was around 68 before the medication increase.

Im about 10 days away from my next blood test to see where I am with the increase.

Hi super pulse rate is influenced by a number of things. My husbands puls rate is 54, he is super fit. But that can be a problem in other people, my sisters pulse rate was in the lower 50 and she had to have a pacemaker. My pulse rate has been 80-85 since I started taking thyroxine (suppressive dose). 82 is still normal pulse rate .

As roslin says, your pulse rate is normal. Does it feel uncomfortably fast or are you just used to it being slower?

If it becomes too fast it doesn't necessarily mean you are on to much thyroxine. It could be that your iron and ferritin are lower than optimal. Ideally ferritin should be above 70. If it is below this, your body might not be able to cope with the dose of thyroxine that it needs.

I hope that helps a little.

Just for reference, before I was optimally treated my pulse was around 48 at rest. It is now 60-70. I am pretty fit. It is quite common for pulse to be lower when you are hypothyroid until your medication is optimised.

Have you had your iron and ferritin checked? If your ferritin is much below 70 that could be why your heart is uncomfortably fast. Sorry if you have already been asked this.

I found my pulse rate went up and became uncomfortable when I went on Mercury Pharma t3, and I had one alarming episode of a crazy racing, pounding heart for about three minutes. Generally it was around 92 at rest until I reduced my levo from 125 to 100, but even now every 5mcg dose causes my heart to beat harder and faster, which never happened when I was on Cynomel.

Hi did you find the cynomel better than the mercury pharma stuff?

Hi, I've done my pulse rate. I'm currently 53 at rest and I take 125mcg Levo.
