Hi If no one near you, I do my own research for consultants as GP no good. If you want more info on this, after Louise`s list, let me know.I never go by GP`s recommendation, done that, never again.
Best wishes,
Jackie
Hello Jackie - yes I would be interested if you can find out anymore about this endo - i asked to go private & was referred to him at the local private hospital although he also works at the NHS hospital. Thank you
Hi The easiest way to find any type of consultant is ,first look on your hospital lists for doc names in the speciality you want.If possible the well known "best " hospital.,often a teaching one. Then look at their names in all the local private hospitals lists. Even if going NHS usually lots of info about them. Also then put their names individually in the WEB as lots have their own sites. Then when you think you know who you want, phone their secretary, private for that or NHS for that, usually different secs. Ask what treatment they like, good listeners? often can get a feel for how they are by the secs. Never, keep one you do not get on with or importantly does not listen. Ask for a new referral. Often easier the second time anyway. If you think the GP has referred you NHS and you want to go privatetly, tell the private sec , they will often sort it out for you. However, sounds to me as if the GP has chosen the Endo, I personally have learnt from experience to be wary of that. Once the GP has done the letter, usually easier to just hone the GP`s sec and ask it to be altered ie different name or place. You can also put any name on the forum , so long as you ask for replies to be to you by PM. Not allowed on the site to comment on names.
I hope that helps.
Best wishes,
Jackie
