Hi Kay,

As far as I know there are no support groups in Fife. I go to the one in Edinburgh, but it is tonight - the last Tuesday of the month - they meet. I did post a notice of the meeting yesterday, was it that that prompted you to ask? They are free.

They are run under the umbrella of British Thyroid foundation, BTF.

If you could get across for 5th October, we are organising a mini conference/info day at the Chancellor's Building, right beside the New Edinburgh Royal Infirmary, Little France.

It runs from 1.00 - 5.30 (with registration from 12.30pm) , to mark 21 years of the BTF and 10 years of the Edinburgh Group.

Speakers will include Professor Mark Strachan (Consultant in Diabetes and Endocrinology, Western General Hospital, Edinburgh), Dr Nicola Zammitt (Consultant Physician, Department of Endocrinology, Edinburgh Royal Infirmary), Dr Eleanor Halloran (Consultant in General Adult Psychiatry, NHS Lothian) and Janis Hickey (Director BTF).

There will be information too, and you may be able to meet up with other people from your area. As it is a free event, we're not providing refreshments, but there are a couple of cafes on site and vending machines in the Common Room which we will have the use of.

I recommend you just contact Margaret McGregor (BTF Area Co-ordinator)

Tel 0131 664 7223 or email: M2mcgregor@aol.com

Hope you can make it along, looking forward to meeting you.

Ther used to be one in Kirkcaldy hospital but I don't know if it is still there. I also think that there is one at Ninewells and here is another but, but don't know when. You could try googling support groups in your area. Hope that helps.
